St. Petersburg, 16 March 2023. Retailers and distribution companies have built more than 600,000 sq. m of warehousing facilities for their own use in St. Petersburg and surrounding areas over the last four years. The total volume of quality warehouses commissioned over the same period amounts to 1.073 million sq. m, making retailers and distributors the largest contributors with a combined share of 56%.
Nikoliers analysts estimate that online retailers alone constructed for themselves over 320,000 sq. m of storage spaces, a third of the total volumes commissioned over the four years. The largest of these facilities were commissioned in 2022 – two warehouses for OZON (a 106,700-square-meter facility in Bugry and a 59,500-square-meter one in PNK Park Shushary-3) and a storage facility for Vseinstrumenti.ru (97,300 square meters in PNK Park Shushary-3).
Major warehousing complexes for distribution companies and nationwide retail chains were commissioned in 2019-2021, including a 69,000-square-meter distribution centre for Lenta grocery chain in Orientir-SPB, storage and supply facilities for VkusVill (54,000 sq. m) and Fix Price (35,600 sq. m) in PNK Park Shushary-3. Also, the specialised alcohol retailer Krasnoe-i-Beloe leased 38,000 sq. m of storage space in Osinovaya Roshcha logistics park and Galamart grocery chain leased 16,200 sq. m in Octavian.
The largest warehousing projects currently under construction in St. Petersburg are a 100,000-square-meter distribution centre for Wildberies, e-commerce company, and a new warehouse (100,000 sq. m) for SberLogistics in the logistical complex Armada Park Shushary. A total 352,000 sq. m of warehousing facilities is to be commissioned by the end of 2023, including 254,000 sq. m for retailers and their logistic services providers.
